SLING NEWS (May 2026)
We interviewed Kameel Ahmady, a British-Kurdish-Iranian social anthropologist whose academic work examines minority and gender dynamics in Iran. His critical studies address complex topics such as female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, and LGBTQ+ rights, situating them within broader socio-political contexts.
Now based in the UK, Ahmady was imprisoned in Iran in 2019 for his research and sentenced to nine years, but made a daring escape across the border in 2020. In our conversation, he provides an incisive analysis of the U.S.-Iran conflict and highlights urgent reforms crucial to advancing Iranian society.
